                Flippedadalah film komedi romantis yang disutradarai oleh Rob Reiner. Film Flipped merupakan adaptasi dari novel ''Flipped'' karya Wendelin Van Draanen.

Film Flipped adalah film remaja dengan setting tahun 1957. Film ini mempunyai jalan cerita sederhana yang mengangkat tema kehidupan romansa remaja. Mengambil 2 sudut pandang membuat beberapa adegan sering diulang sesuai sudut pandang yang diambil. Juliana Baker (Madeline Carroll) merupakan salah satu tokoh utama dalam film ini. Juli merupakan gadis yang cerdas, bersemangat dan unik. Dia sangatlah menyukai pohon Sycamore yang tumbuh di dekat rumahnya. Dia sangat suka memanjat pohon tersebut dan dapat menghabiskan waktu berjam-jam hanya untuk menikmati keindahan alam dari atas sana. Juli terlahir dalam keluarga yang sederhana yang bahagia dan memiliki 2 kakak laki laki kembar. Juli tinggal tepat di depan rumah tambatan hatinya semenjak ia berumur 7 tahun, Bryce Loski. Kehidupan Juli pun berubah saat ia bertemu dengan Bryce, seorang laki laki dengan mata yang bersinar yang membuatnya mengharapkan Bryce sebagai  first kiss nya.

                

           

Bryce Loski (Callan McAuliffe) adalah tokoh utama dalam film ini. Bryce adalah pemuda yang sangat tampan, yang bisa membuat Juli Baker jatuh cinta padanya. Hanya saja, Bryce justru tidak menyukai Juli, menurutnya Juli adalah gadis yang aneh. Bryce terlahir dalam keluarga berada dan terlihat bahagia, tetapi justru banyak perpecahan di dalamnya. Ia tinggal bersama ayah ibunya, seorang kakak perempuan dan kakeknya yang bernama Chet, yang tidak pernah berbicara dengannya. Tetapi semuanya berubah drastis saat Juli mulai memasuki kehidupan Bryce.

TAFSIRAN

Pada tahun 1957, ketika Bryce Loski dan Julianna "Juli" Baker pertama kali bertemu, Juli langsung jatuh hati pada Bryce. Tetapi lain halnya dengan Bryce, ia justru berpendapat lain. Karena pada saat itu ia masih malu untuk mengenal perempuan lebih jauh, Bryce melakukan segala cara yang dia bisa untuk menjauhkan diri sebanyak mungkin dari Juli, rencana Bryce ternyata tidak berjalan mulus  karena mereka pergi ke sekolah yang sama dan tinggal di seberang jalan dari satu sama lain. Jadi tak ada cara yang bisa menjauhkannya dari Juli.

Ketika mereka berada di kelas enam, Bryce berharap bahwa ia dapat menyingkirkan Juli sehingga ia meminta gadis yang paling Juli benci, Shelly Stalls, untuk berkencan. Rencana ini berjalan mulus sampai sahabat Bryce, Garrett, jatuh hati pada Shelly dan mengatakan kepadanya kebenaran tentang rencana dari Bryce dan Shelly meminta putus. Juli tahu Bryce dan Shelly putus, ia pun kembali seperti semula, mendekati Bryce lagi.

 Juli senang sekali memanjat pohon sycamore milik tetangganya. Juli melihat pemandangan indah dari atas sana. Sampai suatu hari, pemilik pohon tersebut ingin menebang pohon sycamore tersebut dan Juli berada di atas pohon itu, ia enggan untuk turun dan memilih diam di atas sana, berusaha mencegah pohon itu di tebang, tapi akhirnya Juli terpaksa turun dengan dibujuk oleh ayahnya. Akibat kejadian itu, Juli masuk dalam berita di koran lokal dan menjadi perbincangan keluarga Bryce, salah satunya Chet Duncan, kakeknya Bryce, ia menyukai Juli, yang berbeda, spesial, langka dan mirip dengan istrinya yang telah meninggal, Renee.

Hubungan Juli dan Bryce memburuk ketika Juli tahu, Bryce tidak mau menerima telur pemberiannya dengan alasan takut terkena Salmonela dan pekarangan keluarganya gersang dan tak terawat. 

Juli akhirnya berkeras ingin membuat pekarangannya asri.Chet dan Juli membentuk persahabatan yang kuat dari waktu ke waktu ketika Chet mulai membantu pekerjaan Juli di halamannya yang berantakan. Bryce mulai membuka hatinya untuk Juli dan bersamaan dengan itu Juli mulai mempertanyakan perasaannya tentang Bryce.

Juli semakin menghindari Bryce.Apalagi dia mendengar sendiri, Bryce dan Garrett membicarakan paman Juli yang mengalami keterbelakangan mental.Juli mengatakan dia tidak mau berbicara dengan Bryce lagi ketika ia dan keluarganya diundang ke rumah Bryce untuk makan malam yang berakhir dengan ayah Bryce yang berbicara cukup kasar tentang keluarganya. Selama makan malam, mereka duduk saling berhadapan, Juli tidak pernah berbicara atau membuat kontak mata dengan Bryce, meskipun Bryce terus-terusan memandangnya.

Juli terus memiliki perasaan yang campur aduk ketika Bryce menjadi anak keranjang. Dia mendengar bahwa Shelly, gadis terbaik di sekolah berencana untuk menawar pada Bryce.Bryce mulai berpikir macam-macam, tentang apa yang akan terjadi saat perang tawar menawar Juli yang berusaha memperebutkannya, namun saat itu ia baru sadar bahwa Juli menawar uangnya pada anak keranjang nomor delapan, anak laki-laki yang persis sebelum Bryce,  Eddie Trulock.

Kemudian, selama makan siang, Bryce dan Shelly duduk di meja seberang Juli dan anak keranjang nomor delapan, Eddie Trulock. Bryce berdiri dan berjalan menuju meja Juli, kemudian menggeretnya menjauh dari meja untuk berbicara dengannya. Beberapa saat mereka tidak saling bicara dan Bryce memutuskan untuk mencium Juli di depan banyak orang.

Juli sempat terpana saat tahu Bryce akan menciumnya karena ia pun menantikan hal itu sejak mereka kelas dua SD, tetapi bukan dengan cara yang seperti ini. Juli menangkisnya dan buru-buru pergi ke luar. Bryce mengejar ketika Juli berlari keluar, namun Juli sudah mengambil sepedanya dan berlari pulang. Garrett, sahabat Bryce mengejarnya dan berkata pada Bryce itu tidak pantas, namun Bryce tidak menggubris. Akhirnya persahabatan mereka selesai setelah mereka sempat saling berteriak satu sama lain.

Sementara itu Juli sampai rumah dan menangis. Bryce mencoba mengontak Juli bagaimanapun caranya. Ia memencet bel pintu, menelepon, menggedor jendela, namun Juli justru melakukan apa yang dilakukan Bryce dahulu: melakukan segala cara untuk menjauhi Bryce.

Suatu hari Juli melihat Bryce menggali lubang di halamannya. Ia ingin melarang Bryce melakukan itu, tapi Juli ditahan oleh ayahnya, karena ayahnya sudah mengizinkan Bryce untuk menggali lubang di halamannya.Setelah Bryce menggali lubang, ia pergi dan membawa pohon sycamore yang masih kecil, pohon yang sangat disukai Juli. Saat itu pun, hati Juli mulai luluh dan mulai menerima Bryce kembali seperti dulu. Akhirnya mereka menanam pohon bersama-sama. Dengan akhir kisah mereka bahagia.

EVALUASI

                Film ini mengangkat kisah tentang manis pahitnya percintaan remaja yang dikemas menarik. Selintas, bagi yang belum melihat film ini, mungkin akan sulit mengetahui keistimewaan film ini. Bagi sebagian orang mungkin akan sedikit sulit memahami jalan cerita film ini karena mempunyai dua sudut pandang berbeda. Tetapi dengan adanya perbedaan sudut pandang membuat kita mempunyai rasayang berbeda saat menontonnya.

                Walaupun film ini bercerita mengenai kisah cinta remaja yang sederhana tetapi film ini dikemas sangat manis dan menarik. Di dalam film ini, secara tidak langsung menyampaikan banyak pelajaran hidup. Dimulai dari perjuangan cinta sejati, menghargai sesama manusia dan berbagai pelajaran hidup dalam keluarga.

Film ini sangat cocok ditonton untuk kalangan remaja, karena film ini menyampaikan moral yang sangat banyak khususnya untuk kaum remaja. Pada tahun setting film ini, wanita masih berada di bawah laki-laki. Mereka memasak di dapur dan para lelaki bekerja. Para guru memiliki kendali atas muridnya yang sopan di kelas. Pun dengan pakaian, sangat sopan dan menyenangkan mata. Keluarga boleh miskin, tetapi sangat membahagiakan dan harus sangat disyukuri, demikian pendapat Juli yang bangga pada keharmonisan keluarganya. Kehidupan sehari-hari yang nyaris hilang di sana.

Banyak sekali nasihat-nasihat di dalam film ini yang cocok utuk remaja. Bagaimana kita menghargai sesama teman, menghormati orang tua, tidak menyakiti perempuan, tidak memandang buruk terhadap seseorang dan melihat keunikan seseorang sebagai suatu anugerah dari Tuhan dan tidak dipandang sebagai suatu keanehan. Dimana banyak sekalianak remaja sekarang yang justru mengucilkan atau mem-bullyteman-teman mereka dikarenakan berbeda.

Saya sangat merekomendasikan film ini untuk ditonton karena film ini sangat istimewa dan sederhana. Mempunyai kisah cinta pertama  romantis yang manis dan polos yang seharusnya. Dan mempunyai banyak makna dan pelajaran hidup untuk kita, khususnya para remaja.

What do you know about rock climbing?

Rock climbing is exhilarating, challenging,healthy and fun activity. But it’s also a dangerous as many people think. But don’t worry, in this modern  era there is a safety equipment for every people who want to do this climb.

Rock climbing is not the same with mountaineering activity. Rock climbing is concerned with the movement of rock. Although many climbers also keen mountaineers, a growing number of rock gymnasts.

Rock climbing cant always be structured, because every rockface and every climbers is different and you will learn something evertime your hands and your feet are on the rock.

Well, that’s a simple introduction about rock climbing. Now I want to show you a little what must be prepared to do this activity for the beginner.

1.       Make sure you have faith and bravery.

It’s a dangerous activity to do. From above, watch the sky and if you are afraid of high, better not to do this, because it’s also dangerous if you stop in the middle of the hill. As the saying ‘don’t look down’. Well yes, you have to keep moving. Your mentality and your body must be though.

2.       Preparing the stuffs:

a.       Clothes

You need a comfortable suits.when you are going to a mountain always have the extra clothes for warm, windproof and waterproof, like a vest, trousers, fleecejacket and gloves.

b.      Boots

Your footwear is important. You will need a comfort and a good quality for your footwear. Like walking boots, trainers or rock boots.

c.       Equipment

Learn to use the equipment to someone who understand like a professional climbers or a guide of the local climbing shop, because this is important for your safety. Equipments like tape slings, karabiner, belay plate, descendeur.

d.      Protection

You get to know the safety equipment, like protection devices and procedures. 

e.      Knots and rope

Your climbing rope is the most important piece of safety. Climbers often use the prussik rope. And the standard lengths are 45m or 50m. You have to know the strenght of the rope that you use and signs of rope damage. You also have to know your knots. What knots you use. Like fisherman’s knot, clove hitch, figure eight, etc.

f.        Bags

It’s worth for carrying you gear, stuff and your food, and also your first aid box.

g.       Harness

Belt or harness are designed to spread the load in the eventof a fall. This for attach your climbing ropefor safety and comfort.

h.      Helmets

you must choose a helmet specifically for climbing, there are2 types of helmet, standard helmet and lightweight helmet.

3.       Getting to know the features of a rockface that you want to climb

There is so many features of a rockface. Well you have to studying the rockface,you will be able to identify more rock features. This enable you to plan out your chosen climb with much or less difficulty

4.       Learn the techniques

Well remember you are a beginner. You need a proffesional to be with you if you want to climb. There are so many techniques you have to learn. If you’re just want to learn the theory, learn from books. But let’s be honest, learning theory is good but never be good as much as you learn with practicing.

a.       Tying on

It is not enough to buy a good harness and safety rope. You must be able to connect the two securely. Like when you want to do the safety checks, once tied on you should go through a series of safety checks. Make sure that the knot securing the rope is tied correctly.

b.      Fixing anchors

You need anchors to secure yourself to the cliff when belaying and for protection. They must be reliable. Placing a sling around a tree or a small pinnacle rock is highly effective. The devices are fastened to a sling which is linked tothe climbing rope by a karabiner. Placing anchors practice should be demonstrated by an experienced climber.

c.       Belaying

Belaying is the basics of what you must know, it is a way of holding the rope for a partner, so you have the best chance of prevening them from hitting the ground if they fall.

d.      Basic hold

There are certain techniques you can use to make a good holds better and all kinds of hold safer. To be of use, a hold must be firm and within convenient reach. If you think it is loose, test it with a kick or a blow from the heel of your hand. No matter what the hold, avoid using your knees.

e.      Making the move

Any climbers involve a range of different moves. To find a safe route, you may go upwards, downwards or sideways. Move from one position tothe next position, if you cant, return to your original position and make a new plan.

How to be (like) a native speaker in fun ways:

  Many people think, English was weird. But, it’s true. Learn English probably hard for some people. And also me as the writer. But I keep learning. And so do you. But, you have to search another angle from learning this. Because it’s really boring. Like maybe some courses you took. You just sit there, listen to your teacher and repeat what your teacher says. And this is my tips :

1.        1. Don’t be shy to learn English

In fact, many people shy to learn English.  Especially for the old ones. Why? Maybe it’s all because ‘age’ factor. People think, the old ones should be higher or one step front of the youngs. But that’s not the point. No matter how old you are, learning is a must, not only in English but everything.

1     2. Don’t study grammar too much

Grammar is important, but studying grammar will only confuse you. You will think about the rules while writing sentences that comes naturally on your mind. And your sentences will be messed up.

Many students know more grammar than the native speakers. But students dont make it automatic out of their mind. Native speakers do, they can apply it perfectly without thinking about ‘what I should say first?’ . However native speakers can speak, communicate effectively  and fluent in English than students. It’s all because they don’t really think about what grammar I should put into? So, if you want to speak English fluently, try not to study grammar too much.

3.       3.Don’t be so hard into theory

English is not just a theory. English is a language. Read an English book or read vocabs in dictionary, that’s good for student, but try not to be a student. Stop thinking of yourself as someone who is learning English, and start thinking of yourself as someone who speaks English. It will make your self-confidence up in English and start thinking in English.

4.       4. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes

You failed a test? Your scores in some test are bad? Don’t worry, it’s not the end of the world. It doesn’t mean you are stupid. English is more than a score. It’s about who you are. The more you learn the more you can, so don’t be scared if you failed an English test.

5      5. More practicing

If you learn English but you don’t use it everyday, it will useless. You don’t have to take an expensive course to be a fluent speaker. You just have to surround yourself with English. How? You have to do more practicing in speaking English and use it everyday and everytime. Some people think, learning English once a week is a enough, but it’s not. At least you have to practice about every last minute you learn.

6.       6. Listen more and more

You don’t have to listen the listening part of a test. You can listen to a song you like. But don’t read the lyrics. Try to listen carefully what the singer said in the song. Then  start to think about the meaning of the song, or the meaning of the sentences. But don’t translate word by word into your mother tounge. Because it doens’t work out. The meaning will find some differences. Like the incorrect sentences, etc. So, you have to learn phrases obviously.

7.       7. Go watch watch

If you are the visual type of a person. You might be like to watch some movie. So, let’s go watch a movie. But, don’t use the subtitle of your mother tounge. Use the subtitle in English, read carefully so you can understand the meaning of the movie and by the time you will watch and understand the movie without seeing the subtitle. Or if you like to read a book, the book that you like for sure, like some kind  of romance novel if you are a melancholic teenager or  a comic if you are a teenager with a lot of imagination. Or something else that you like, but that must be in English absolutely.

8.       8. Ask the native speaker

When you find a native speaker try to make a conversation a little. That will be useful and will be the most unforgettable experience English learning for your first time. I can confidence say this with some experiences. So I won’t tell you more, but you have to feel this by yourself. Goodluck.

9.       9. Believe in yourself

I can’t tell you much about this one. But, you have to believe in yourself. Believe you can speak English fluently. It’s all depends on yourself. And this is the most important when you want to success in English.
